From 23 to 25 July, the 37th China Process Control Conference (CPCC), hosted by the Technical Committee on Process Control of the Chinese Association of Automation (CAA) and organised by Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), was held at the SYSU International Academic Exchange Center (Zhongda Scholars' Garden Hotel) in Shenzhen. Experts and scholars from more than a hundred universities, research institutes and enterprises at home and abroad gathered in Shenzhen for the event. Professor Li Shaoyuan, Chair of the CAA Technical Committee on Process Control, served as the General Chair of the conference.
Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) Professor Gui Weihua, Foreign Academician of the CAE Professor Song Yongduan, Academician of the Academy of Science of South Africa Professor Wang Qing-Guo, Fellow of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering Professor Huang Biao, and National Leading Talent Professor Wu Dongrui delivered invited plenary reports at the conference. Grounded at the international academic frontier and focused on major national needs, the reports combined theoretical depth with engineering value, fully reflecting the trend of convergence between control science and the process industry. They offered deep inspiration to the delegates, who responded with lively discussion and strong feedback.

During the keynote session, experts including Min Huifang (Nanjing University of Science and Technology), Yu Haoyang (Central South University), Peng Gongzhuang (Beihang University), Bai Ting (Shanghai Jiao Tong University), He Ning (Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology) and Wang Ping (Sun Yat-sen University) delivered excellent reports. Closely aligned with the key issues in the intelligent development of control science and the process industry, the reports systematically showcased the latest research progress and innovative achievements in the field, building a high-level exchange platform for young scholars to broaden their research horizons and deepen academic collaboration.
The conference featured a rich variety of academic activities, covering hot research directions including control and optimisation of complex industrial processes, advanced control theories and methods, safety control, intelligent transportation, intelligent manufacturing, and AI-empowered process industry. As signature events of the conference, the Education Forum, co-chaired by Professor Cheng Peng of Zhejiang University and Song Hui of Chemical Industry Press, facilitated in-depth discussions on talent cultivation in control disciplines, curriculum system development and innovation in education models in the age of artificial intelligence. The Industry Forum, co-chaired by Professor Li Dewei of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Professor Han Yu of Sun Yat-sen University, focused on the key technical needs in the digital and intelligent transformation of the process industry, bringing together experts from universities, research institutes and enterprises to explore collaborative innovation paths across industry, academia and research.
Meanwhile, the Poster Sessions, organised by Professor Yang Chunhua of Central South University, attracted the active participation of numerous young scholars and graduate students. The posters covered process control, intelligent optimisation, system identification and other research directions, fully showcasing the innovative achievements and academic vitality of young researchers in the field of control science. Experts engaged in in-depth exchanges and on-site guidance around the poster content, providing an open and efficient academic exchange platform for young scholars, and further promoting the collision of academic ideas, research collaboration and the cultivation of outstanding young talent.
