AiScholar and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Secure ITF Funding for AI Agent Research Project

AiScholar and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) have been awarded funding from the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for their jointly proposed project, “AiScholarAgent: A Scenario-Aware Agentic AI System for Autonomous Global Scientific Collaboration and Innovation.”

On 2 November 2026, the two parties held a project signing ceremony in Hong Kong, officially launching their collaboration on the research and development of enterprise-grade multi-agent technologies for research service applications.

The project will focus on developing a scenario-aware agentic AI system. Drawing on AiScholar's practical experience and industry data from research service scenarios, and combining these with PolyU's expertise in artificial intelligence, the collaboration will explore the application of AI agents across different research service scenarios. The joint development of an AI-native academic conference platform will also be an important direction of the project.

Applying AI Agents to Research Outcomes and Academic Services

One of the project's key objectives is to provide intelligent interpretation and support for valuable research findings and innovations through the AiScholarAgent system.

For the general public, the system aims to translate specialised research findings into accessible content, helping readers better understand their scientific significance and potential applications.

For industry, the system will explore ways to connect research outcomes with enterprise needs by identifying potential applications and industrial value, helping facilitate collaboration between researchers and businesses.

The two parties will also explore the development of an AI-native academic conference platform, applying scenario-aware agentic AI technologies to academic communication and conference services. This initiative aims to explore how intelligent agents can support academic exchange and improve the delivery of conference-related services.

Advancing AI for Science Through Industry-Academia Collaboration

This project marks a practical step in AiScholar's efforts to apply artificial intelligence to research services and advance its AI for Science strategy.

Moving forward, AiScholar will strengthen its collaboration with universities, research institutions and industry partners through joint research and development. By bringing together academic expertise and real-world industry applications, AiScholar aims to make intelligent technologies more accessible and beneficial to researchers worldwide.
