The 3rd International Conference on Geotechnics and Hydraulic Structure (GHS 2026) will be held in Changsha, Hunan, China from September 18 to 20, 2026.The conference will mainly discuss academic issues related to geotechnical mechanics and hydraulic structures in the construction and operation of water conservancy, hydropower, transportation, infrastructure and other engineering projects. This conference aims to provide an authoritative international exchange platform for researchers in related fields, to exchange the latest development trends of science and technology and academia in related fields worldwide, to link top, active and latest academic resources at home and abroad in key fields, to promote the transformation of scientific research achievements and the gathering of talents, technologies and capital through experience sharing and wisdom collision, and to enhance new development momentum. Professor William Powrie University of Southampton, UK Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK
|
Professor William Powrie was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2009 for his pioneering work in environmental geotechnics and transportation geotechnics. Since 2018, he has been the Director of the UK Collaborative Research Centre for Infrastructure and Cities (UKCRIC) consisting of 15 universities, and leads the Infrastructure Excellence Centre of the UK Rail Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN). One of his main research focuses is the application of soil mechanics principles to "complex" soils and soil-like materials, including landfill waste, high-strength interlocking sand, and railway ballast. He is the author of the internationally renowned textbook "Soil Mechanics: Concepts and Applications". He has close cooperation with the industry and has participated in many major civil engineering projects, including the Conwy Immersed Tube Tunnel, the Medway Immersed Tube Tunnel, the Jubilee Line stations at Canary Wharf and Canada Water, and the UK's High Speed 1 (HS1); in addition, he serves as the Chairman of the Independent Geotechnical Expert Panel for the UK's High Speed 2 (HS2). |

Chaofeng Zeng, born in Loudi, Hunan Province, PhD, Professor, PhD Supervisor, is currently the Director of the Analysis and Testing Center, Deputy Director and Leader of the Intelligent Prevention and Control Innovation Team of Hunan University of Science and Technology. He has been awarded many honors such as the Leading Talent in Science and Technology Innovation of Hunan Furong Program. He has presided over 3 national-level projects and more than 10 provincial and ministerial-level and industry-university-research projects. As the first or corresponding author, he has published 28 SCI papers and 52 EI papers in internationally renowned journals, with a total of 2152 citations and an H-index of 30; he has 32 authorized patents and software copyrights. He has edited 4 SCI special issues and won many provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological awards. He serves as a director of many academic societies, editorial board member and conference chair, and has long been invited to serve as a review expert for national, provincial and municipal key projects. His main research directions include disaster prevention and mitigation of underground engineering, green development of underground space, geotechnical engineering and seepage-stress coupling analysis. |

Professor Ling Zhang Hunan University, China National Young Talent

Professor Ling Zhang, born in Linhai, Zhejiang Province, is currently a Professor and PhD Supervisor in the College of Civil Engineering, Hunan University. She was selected as a National Young Talent and awarded the Yuelu Scholar Morning Star A position. She has long been engaged in the teaching and scientific research of geotechnical engineering; she served as an Associate Professor in the College of Civil Engineering, Hunan University from January 2017 to December 2021, and has been a Professor in the College of Civil Engineering, Hunan University since January 2022; she has achieved remarkable results in presiding over scientific research projects, including 4 National Natural Science Foundation projects and 1 Hunan Provincial Excellent Youth Foundation project; she has abundant academic achievements, publishing more than 100 academic papers in core journals at home and abroad, including more than 42 SCI papers, and obtaining 13 invention patents; she has won many awards and honors, including 1 First Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked 12th), 1 Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award (ranked 10th), etc.; she also holds many social academic positions, including Editorial Board Member of "Rock and Soil Mechanics", Director of the 11th National Committee of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, Director of the Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the Architectural Society of China, Director of the 3rd Council of the Environmental Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, etc. |

Professor Mingfeng Lei Central South University, China Vice Dean of the College of Civil Engineering

Mingfeng Lei, PhD (Postdoctoral), Professor, Master/PhD Supervisor. He graduated from Central South University with a PhD degree in 2013, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2015, and to Professor in 2020. He is currently the Vice Dean of the College of Civil Engineering. His main research focuses on the evolution mechanism of the full-life performance of underground structures, and the construction technology of tunnels and underground engineering under complex conditions. In recent years, he has presided over or participated in more than 40 various scientific research projects, won more than 20 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological awards, published more than 80 academic papers indexed by SCI and EI, obtained more than 30 national patents and software copyrights, and participated in the publication of 5 monographs and textbooks. |

Professor Yu Yao Changsha University of Science and Technology, China Young Changjiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education |
Yu Yao, born in Xiangtan, Hunan Province. He is currently a Professor and PhD Supervisor in the School of Hydraulic Engineering, selected as the "Young Changjiang Scholar" of the Ministry of Education and the "Huxiang Young Talent" of Hunan Province. He is mainly engaged in the teaching of undergraduate courses "Coastal Dynamics" and postgraduate courses "Wave Theory and Its Applications". He has presided over 12 longitudinal projects (including 3 National Natural Science Foundation projects), published more than 60 high-level journal papers (including 36 SCI indexed papers), obtained 8 authorized national invention patents, won the First Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Institute of Navigation (ranked 1st), and the Second Prize of the Marine Engineering Science and Technology Award (ranked 3rd). He has been rated as an "Excellent Teacher" of Changsha University of Science and Technology for the 2017-2018 and 2019-2020 academic years. |
